The cocktail was invented at the Detroit Athletic Club. (Yes most of the historic athletic clubs had alcohol bars.) No drama. No controversy. Club records show it was on their menu back to at least 1916. It was given new life in the classic cocktail bars of Seattle after disappearing into obscurity. It would figure to be popular with modern cocktail bars given its balance of equal parts of all ingredients and the inclusion of ultra hip Chartreuse.

3/4 oz Luxardo Maraschino
3/4 oz Green Chartreuse

Suggestions
Gins are an enormously large flavor spectrum. Hendricks and Boodles are cucumber heavy. Sapphire is citrus forward. For this particular recipe something classic like Beefeater.
